Elijah: Zealous for God
David Flowers   -

1 KINGS 16:29-33; 17:1-7; 18:17-19:21; 2 KINGS 2:9-15

The days of Elijah were dark times. The northern kingdom of Israel had broken God’s covenant and defiled the land with idolatry and injustice for generations. Finally, God holds back the rain and sends Elijah to rebuke King Ahab and his wicked wife, Jezebel. This eventually leads to a showdown on Mt. Carmel. And after a mighty display of God’s power, Elijah runs for his life and hides in a cave far from home. It is there that God speaks to him amid his fear and depression. In the sixth message of our series, Pastor David invites us to be zealous for God and press on in faith like Elijah.
